At present in India there 326 million social network users which is likely to grow to 447 million in 2023, according to the data from Statista. Right now, India is the third biggest market for Twitter with 17.5 million users as of now, Twitter had 187 million daily active users globally
1. KOO
Koo the Indian microbiology app has been developed by Aprameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidawatka back in March 2020. KOO app is meant for people to share their thoughts, opinions, and strike a discussion on trending topics. Similar to Twitter.
Koo app was declared as an Atmanirbhar app in AatmaNirbhar App Innovation Challenge that took place in August 2020.
In Koo app users can follow trends and users including celebrities and people of prominence. The best thing about the app is that people can use this app in many Indian languages such as Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Oriya, and Assamese. This gives users a better way to express themselves in their own regional language.
In Koo there is five sections which are Home, Trending Hashtags, Search, Messages, and Notifications. While the top left corner includes the Profile section for where users can manage their account, the top right corner has a section to view trending Koos in the past 24 hours. The app is in yellow tones and is pretty systemic and very easy to use.
2. Tooter
Tooter is another Indian microblogging platform like Twitter based in Telangana. Tooter can be accessed through the web and app. “Tooter is a Swadeshi social network.
Almost all that you can do on Twitter same can be done on Tooter. The platform in terms of design and layout looks more similar to Twitter. Tooter, users get their account verified when they reach 1000+followers. On Tooter users can post 40MB of video and can write post in 500 words and on web version users can post, posts in more than 500 words and user can edit their any posts whenever they want. The Tooter app support hindi and many different languages. On Tooter users can create groups on web version in which the can connect very well.
Tooter users can like, comment and repost other people’s posts which are called Toots.’ They can see Toots of other users they follow. The toots include text, pictures, videos and polls etc.
At the time of signup on Tooter platform users need to use a Gmail or Yahoo account. Once you create your Tooter account, you will automatically ‘follow’ two accounts which is ‘News’ and the other one is Tooter’s CEO Nanda, which you can unfollow if you want.
3. Upmanch
Upmanch is an idea that provide people a platform to connect with people of their interest and businesses. On upmanch users can create polls, share photos, ideas, videos, files, live location etc.
