ways to reduce water pollution

Water pollution is defined as contamination of water bodies, which involves rivers, lakes, oceans and groundwater. We all know that the contamination of our water is a big issue, specifically when we ramp up our production of harmful substances. Not only it contaminates water, but it also hurts the wildlife, which depends on safe water for survival.

With rising global warming and climate change, our planet is already struggling with an, acute water crisis. Moreover, as the population of the earth is growing at an explosive rate, water resources are also being polluted at higher rates. Water pollution related problems and issues are increasing rapidly and this in turn leading to more waterborne diseases.

Simple and easy ways to prevent water pollution. 

1. Use Less Plastic

It is very hard to break down plastic after it is produced. Most of the plastic we consume ends up in the water supply, where it make difficult to fish. If you possibly use less plastic items, you are helping the environment. Plastic waste also spreads decay in water supply.

2. Re-use Products

Whenever you buy any object that is not recyclable, like plastic, it is better to reuse the product as many as possible. It limits your consumption and means less of those products will end up in the rivers, lakes and oceans.

3. Recyclable Options

If there are two options for a particular object, then select which is easily reusable. Glass bottles are better for the environment than the plastic bottles.

4. Cleaning Chemicals

Cleaning chemicals are dengerous when they enter the water supply. If you are emptying out the container of household cleaning supplies, do it in the trash can  not in the sink. 

5. Don't Throw away Medicines

Never throw away medicines in the water supply. Even if you whole pills that you do not need it, it is a bad idea to flush them in the toilet or crush them in your kitchen sink disposal. 

6. Don't Dispose of Oils in the Sink

While there is nothing wrong with consuming oils in your diet or using them on your body, it is bad idea to dispose of oils in the sink. It is better to dispose of oils in the garbage, or collecting all your extra oil in a bottle and then throw it away.

7. Handle toxic chemicals properly

Toxic chemicals are becoming a serious problem, such as ammonia, bleach, paint thinner and many other chemicals are becoming a severe problems and if they are dumped into the drain or the toilet, the effects ads up. Therefore proper disposal of these chemicals is important. 
      
  There are many recycling centers and drop-off sites for the safe disposal of these dengerous waste that can take the old paint, used motor oil, and other chemicals and recycle them. 

8. Shop to prevent water pollution 

Try to avoid buying products that contains Persistent and hazardous chemicals. Nowadays, companies are selling non-toxic cleaners and biodegradable cleaners and pesticides.

If you spend a little extra cash on those products, then it automatically reduces the water pollution.




9. Avoid toilet to throw household items. 


Don't throw household items, like dust clothes, dental floss, tissue, wrappers and other paper goods in the toilet when you are done with them. 

Toilet paper is specially created in a way that it breaks down easily in the water pipes, but fibre-reinforced cleaning products which pollute the system.
